Kitten Delivery

Budapest, Magyarország

Budapest, Hungary

September 11th 2024

This week I transported two street kittens from Bulgaria to their forever homes in Budapest.

Georgi

In this part of the world you do not need to look hard, cats really are just thrust upon you. At the start of summer, I was woken at 5am by a kitten screaming like hell in the stairway of the apartment building. This tiny guy was kneading non-stop and clearly lost. I think I took him in for a couple hours so he'd shut up, and returned him later.

It turns out that a kid in the apartment was seen playing with him and his kitten sibling, and due to some difficulties in translation, we thought that the kid owned the kittens. However, after the sibling kitten went missing (and to this day, remains missing), I asked the kid and it turns out she just found them. The mum, according to her, was not around.

One storm later, during which Georgi decided to get stuck up a tree next to my window, a decision was made. This guy was too small (and stupid) to survive all alone.

Jump to 2.5 months later and Georgi got fat, self-entitled, but remained just as cute. He's now staying in a luxury flat in central Budapest, where he is the only-cat-child of a young international couple. What a glow up.

Callisto (Kali)

A friend of mine found Kali on the road, hit by a car. Her femur and hip were broken, and she went into surgery to have hip screws inserted so that she could walk again. From having a much more brutal start to life however, being barely 2 months old at the time, Kali did not let it get to her. She was loving all the way through.

But being unable to find a stable home for her, she was passed around from vet cages, to cat hotels, to mums. Finally though, we now found her a lively home in Budapest to match her lively personality, where she hopefully doesn't need to move around anymore.

Mihály

When it rains it pours. Driving to a hike one morning, I found a cat dragging itself across the road, bleeding from the belly. Mihály here was shot, but I grabbed him and am now going through the process of recovery with him. He has regained some of his walking ability, but the biggest hurdle by far is mental. He is terrified of everything and distrusting, but also loves physical touch, an interesting combination. I may have just found him a home and will bring him on the next drive to Budapest, but for now he is staying in the apartment as my guest.
