Arnhem Land, Australia
Sunday 25th June 2023
This week I want to take a break from firebirds and instead showcase a little bit of where I've been living and who else has been living there with me.
Living quarters for the trip, mostly made up of moveable dongas and a few permanent houses for head staff. The only tent in use is currently occupied by myself.
A warm natural spring lies a 10-minute walk away from camp. The water is clear all the way through and is clean enough to drink, just check there's no crocodiles before you get in.
At night many tree frogs crawl out of hidden corners of the bathroom and poisonous cane toads come out in droves to search for water.
There are many camp dogs, and although they do their best to win you over during the day, they behave like utter dickheads during the night.
Feral donkeys and water buffalo for hunting also live in and around the area, as well as the occassinal venomous snake.
